Empowering West Philadelphia communities with real-time air quality data to raise awareness, drive action, and improve environmental health.

The Overbrook Breathe Right Community Air Monitoring Project increases awareness of air pollution in targeted environmental justice communities of West Philadelphia. Engaging community members in the Overbrook, Wynnefield, Mill Creek, and Mantua neighborhoods, the ‘Breathe Right’ project monitors five criteria air pollutants and analyzes several heavy metals, including lead in PM2.5, to better inform residents about the state of air pollution in their neighborhoods. Our project partners are Villanova University (Dr. Kabindra Shakya) and Drexel University (Alexis Schulman).
