PHL Climate Justice Collective

The PCJC is dedicated to developing a locally driven climate change transition plan that addresses long-standing environmental issues. This collaboration consists of the Overbrook Environmental Education Center along with 3 other partner community-based organizations, led by The Environmental Collaboratory at Drexel University. PCJC engages with community members to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that the voices of those most affected by climate change are heard in policy discussions. Our work includes developing solutions to climate-related quality-of-life issues, such as extreme heat, respiratory health issues, and illegal dumping, with a focus on creating actionable policy recommendations

The PCJC efforts culminated in a comprehensive report outlining recommendations for improving environmental justice in Philadelphia. Currently, our focus is on raising awareness and advocating for policy solutions regarding extreme heat, and we are developing an interactive, online dashboard for community stakeholders to access key data and resources that will allow them to take appropriate actions.
